Audio Components: Voiceovers

Recording voice overs for a moving image is often very easily done and is used to great effect. This is normally done in a studio where a voice over can either play the part of narration, or dialogue replacement. the image is played in the studio and the person committing the voice over reads their script. It may take a few tries to find the right take as the mood of the voice over or dialogue replacement must fit that of the moving image. This is recorded in a quiet studio setting so that no background noise interrupts the recording. Voice overs can be seen in all aspects of TV and film. A voice over can be an aspect of non- diegetic sound or external diegetic sound.
As you can see in this scene from 'Snatch', a character narrates the scene. this adds a comedy factor to the scene as the character is talking about something relatable, off the screen, which is how people can't understand gypsies.
